The Golden Rule
Avoid pairing silicone-based lubricant with silicone products. Over time, silicone lube can break down the surface of silicone toys, making them sticky or degraded. When in doubt, water-based lube is the safest all-purpose choice.

- Using condoms? Stick to water- or silicone-based lube — oil-based lubricants can break down latex.
- Sensitive skin? Choose a lube that's free of glycerin, parabens, and added fragrance.
- Flavored lube is generally intended for external/oral use rather than internal use — check the label.
- Anal play typically benefits from a thicker, longer-lasting lubricant, since natural lubrication is minimal in that area.
